This is a knitting bag I gave my mother for her birthday. I´m posting about it because I think it would make a nice present for grandmothers.
A brief introduction to this project. My mum loves handmade things, she´s crafted ever since we know each other, and probably before, as she still keeps things she made at school. She´s the official knitter of my children, which means she has always something to knit. She´s also a full time Doctor and commutes to work every day. On her daily train journey to work she carries her knitting and relaxes by clicking her needles. I spotted her one morning as she left home toting along the most awful of supemarket plastic bags, with her lovely knitting yarns inside!!! I had to put an end to this misery so I made this bag for her.
I traced my children drawings on each side and then embroidered them with the same colours of the original. The black creature is Ameba, by my then two year old daughter and the smiley chap is Toni, by my then three year old.
Telas: Ikea

Since Toni and Ameba sit alongside Granny on her work route, the production of knitted garments has increased sharply.
Inspiration: this tutorial and Martha Stewart website
Pattern: Bag from this book by Cath Kidston

  2. That is so lovely, I imagine your mother was ecstatic! My daughter made a bookmark along those lines which we got from Amanda Blake Soule's book and she gave to my mother. A real keepsake, that's for sure.
