flashback

This was my first project using a sewing machine (mum's, not mine yet). As my addiction was at the very early days, I didn't have a million of magazines or books yet, so I used one of my favorite vintage burda, from 1981. I had so much fun choosing the model, the fabric, laying my pieces on the table, pressing them well... I enjoyed the whole process until I stumbled into the facings part. I had never sewn a garment before so I had no idea how to do that. I dialed my secret sewing emergency number and hoped she was on call. She was. As always.
ME: Mum, this silly burda people want me to do something funny with the facings. What are they talking about? Can I just hem it all around?
SHE: No. no. It's easy. Just attach the facing, right sides together, then turn it over, etc, etc,....

So, after using the seam ripper as much as the sewing machine, I completed my first wearable piece of fabric.
I couldn't be prouder seeing my little one playing with it on, even if it was too small for her and would only fit with her nappy off!
